Wed, 19 August 2009 Live DA Meeting – Wednesday, August 19, 2009 Unfortunately, we had some techical difficulties and don't have the intro to the call, but the rest of the fun, information and entertainment is there, as usual. What Would Dumbledore Do? As the campaign draws to a close, we just want to take the time to look back at what we accomplished and to thank you guys for all you did to make the magic happen! - Looking at the many forms WWDD has taken: blog posts, artwork, the Twitter challenge, the Movie Name Tag challenge, and the WWDD Doctrine on the WWDD website (www.whatwoulddumbledoredo.org). - Impressive statistics for Twitter (over 12,000 #dumbledore tweets!) and website traffic (over 500% increase from June to July!) - The full force of the Harry Potter fandom was involved. Many thanks to the Leaky Cauldron, Mugglenet, HPANA, HPEF, the Wizard Rock community, the Vlogbrothers, and many, many more—especially YOU! - Results: Rise in Chapter requests. Currently we have over 50 active chapters on 5 continents. Email chapters@thehpalliance.org if you want a chapter near you. - Press coverage: You honored Dumbledore, and the Muggle media noticed! The Harry Potter Alliance and WWDD were mentioned in the LA Times, Newsweek, CNN, Newsweek Japan, Time Magazine, and the Australian Today Show.
Platform 9 ¾: We at the HPA don’t buy into the Muggle mindset that places too much emphasis on money. However, as a nonprofit organization we depend on donations to continue functioning day to day. Enter the 9 ¾ project: this is your opportunity to help the HPA raise some much-needed funds. Ways you can help: - Make a donation. There are 3 ways to do this: (1) Make an electronic payment through PayPal on the HPA website (www.thehpalliance.org/nineandthreequarters.html) (2) Make an electronic payment through the HPA Facebook page (3) Send a check to the HPA P.O. Box (the address can be found on the 9 ¾ page on the HPA site). - Buy merchandise. Check out our brand new HPA gear at www.thehpalliance.org/shop.html - Plan a fundraiser. We discussed some great ideas (penny drives, Quidditch tournaments, etc) on the chat, but be sure to post your ideas as a blog on the Ning as well. - Get excited. Obviously not everyone is in a position to give financially, but you can also help us out by contributing ideas, spreading the news, and building the excitement. Comments[0] |
